NORWAY – A “Books2Eat” contest will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the Norway Memorial Library, accompanied by the Act V singers, Sally Jones, Jeannie Stone and Bob Elliott. The Friends of Norway Memorial Library is sponsoring the “Books2Eat” event and contest.

Friends planning the event are Faye Knowlton, Allison Rosenblatt, Barbara Howard, Maureen Simmons and Julie Peterson.

The public is invited to attend to eat books and/or enter the book-making contest. The event is a fundraiser to help the Friends purchase audio and video collections for the library. Tickets may be purchased at the library for $25.

Restaurants, chefs and those who love to cook are invited to enter a book to eat. The idea is to make a book representation out of edible materials, e.g. cake, bread, crackers, Jell-O, vegetables, candy – anything edible that can sit for an hour or two without perishing.

The categories are: “A Straight Book Title,” “An Interpretation of a Book Title” or “A Book Title as Pun.” Awards will be given in those categories as well as for most artistic, best use of materials, best use of locally grown ingredients and best in show.

For more information on the criteria for entering, call Allison at the library, 743-5309, or pick up a registration form at the information desk. Entries must be submitted by 3 p.m. Saturday, March 29.
