School funding changes
The scoop: Selectmen got a primer from state Rep. Scott Lansley, R-Sabattus, and Jim Riei from the state Department of Education about the revised school budget process. Among changes are attribution of revenue sources and expenditures, as well as how voters may approve or change budget proposals.
Manager gets town car
The scoop: After a 90-minute executive session, board members voted unanimously to allow Town Manager Greg Gill use of a municipally owned car to commute to and from work. The issue also will be part of Gill’s annual job review.
Appointments
The scoop: Selectmen unanimously approved appointment of Michelle Ames to the Comprehensive Plan Update Committee and Shelah Rawstron to the Recreational Developmental Committee.
Storm notification policy
The scoop: Two television stations, WGME 13 and WMTW 8, have been added to the list of media outlets to be notified of event cancellations caused by severe weather.
Assistance vouchers
The scoop: Hoping to wring the most purchasing power possible from the town’s general assistance policy, selectmen unanimously voted to limit use of its vouchers to generic or Hannaford-brand products only.
