CHESTERVILLE – Incumbent Selectman John Worth was re-elected to a three-year position over challengers Nathan Bean and Orin Knowles, Deputy Clerk Heather Wheeler said Tuesday.
Worth received 48 votes to Bean’s 11 and Knowles’ 34. Resident Greg Soule received one write-in vote.
Selectman David Archer said everything passed except for an article to exceed the tax cap that selectmen asked voters to reject because approved spending didn’t go over the cap.
“We had a good group. It was very well attended and we had some very good questions asked. To me, it was a good town meeting,” Archer said.
Voters also approved changing the way building permit fees are calculated from construction costs to a per-square-foot amount. The fee is now 5 cents per square foot, and for an accessory structure like a garage , a $5 base fee and 2 cents per square foot.
