Blood drive

WILTON – A community blood drive, sponsored by Farmington Emblem Club 460, will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, at the Nichols Expo Center, Route 156.

The American Red Cross is facing a shortage of blood across the Northeast due to the storms during February and March. There is less than a one-day supply of some blood types; as a result, the Red Cross has been forced to cut shipments of blood to area hospitals.

Eligible blood donors are asked to contact Shannon Smith at 778-4726, or the American Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE to make an appointment. Donors can enter to win $200 toward home heating costs and $200 gift card from Hannaford Supermarkets.
