AUBURN – Lena Bell, 80, of Auburn, died Wednesday, March 12, at the Hospice House in Auburn with her family at her side.
She was born in Fort Kent on Feb. 14, 1928, the daughter of Joseph and Delia (Charette) Bushey. During World War II, she left school to work at the Pepperell Mill in support of the war effort.
After raising a family, she returned to school and received her high school diploma in 1992. On June 12, 1948, she married Victor Bell and they owned and operated Bell farm in Auburn from 1948 until 1980. He passed away in 2006.
Among her favorite enjoyments were spending time with her 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, bowling and arts and crafts. A communicant of St. Philips Church, she was a volunteer at Stephens Memorial in Norway, past president of Oxford Beechwoods Association, and was active in Saint Mary’s Church in Oxford.
Survivors include three daughters, Rachel Bradbury and husband, Robert, of Simsbury, Conn., Patricia Hunter and husband, Robert, of Lexington, Mass., and Arlene Harrison and husband, Greg, of Albion; six sons, Fred Bell of Topsham, John Bell and wife, Monita, of Ball Ground, Ga., Michael Bell and wife, Sharon, of Liberty Township, Ohio, Robert Bell and wife, Patricia, of Poland, Vincent Bell and wife, Nicole, of Littleton, N.H., and Alan Bell and wife, Susan, of Gloucester, Mass.; and a brother, Joseph Bushey of Zephyrhills, Fla.
