LEWISTON – Alice L. Joy of Hampshire Street, Auburn, died peacefully on March 4, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center after a short illness.

She was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Lewiston, a daughter of Percy and Carrie (Fickett) Joy. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1950, where she served as a cheerleader. She then moved to Rock Island, Ill., where she worked many years for Oscar Mayer. In 1975, she returned to Maine.

She loved the ocean and she especially loved her dogs. She was a gentle soul who will be missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her sister, Paula Vaseliades; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
