LEWISTON – Alton A. “Sandy” Wing, 95, died Saturday, March 15, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a short illness to be with the Lord and his devoted wife, Lucille.

He was born in Austin, P.Q., Nov. 9, 1912, the son of Leslie and Amy Wing.

Sandy was an icon in the motor freight industry for 75 years. His employers included Wings Express, Inland Express, Sanborn’s Express, APA Transport, and Fawlers Express serving in management and sales.

He was a dedicated member of Court Street Baptist Church for 55 years, serving as head usher for many years, as well as van driver for a period of time. He was a member of the Lodge AF&AM, past president of the Square and Compass Club, a member Scottish Rite Bodies and Kora Temple Shrine. He was also a member of United Commercial Travelers.

Survivors include one son, William L. Wing of Auburn; as well as nieces; half brother; and sisters.

Besides his wife, Lucille, he was predeceased by one brother, Percy L. Wing; and two sisters, Marjorie Cabana and Marion Craft.
