Dear Sun Spots: Help! I love my Oreck upright vacuum cleaner, but after many years of cleaning up from a large family, it needs some professional care. Is there anyone in the Norway/South Paris area who services and tunes up these vacuums? I hope someone in the Oxford Hills area will know where I can get help for my trusty Oreck! Thank you. – No Name, Norway
Answer: Pineland Carpet at 1887 Hotel Road in Auburn is an Oreck dealer and would be happy to help you with your service and maintenance needs. You may reach Ron Akers at 784-1511, or stop by the store Monday through Saturday 8 a.m to 5 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sun Spots was unable to locate someone in the Norway area who services Oreck vaccum cleaners. May be our readers in the area would have some information!
You can order vacuum bags and supplies for your Oreck at www.oreck.com or call toll-free 1-800-289-5888, or go to a local dealer in your area, such as Pineland Carpet. Oreck recommends that you change the vacuum belt about every 6-12 months to prevent strain on the motor.
Dear Sun Spots: I read your column everyday, so I was sure that I would get some responses to my inquiries regarding Cabbage Holler, New Meadows and Pine, ME. A number of people did call with information about New Meadows and one called to let me know about Cabbage Holler. Thank you to everyone who responded. It was enjoyable talking to all of you and the information you gave me was a big help. Unfortunately, no one had heard of Pine, ME, although some of you had suggestions of places that included Pine in the name. We will follow up on those suggestions. Again, thank you for your help. – Betty I. Jones, Norway
Dear Sun Spots: Danville Junction Grange No. 65 has existed since approximately 1870 and now has the largest membership of any grange in Maine. To maintain our hall, support community service projects, give an annual scholarship and provide a meeting place for grangers and other community activities, we hold a public supper and play bingo every first Saturday from October through May at 5 p.m.
We are in need of a new bingo machine as ours frequently gives us problems because of its age. If anyone knows where we can obtain an inexpensive used bingo console, please contact Maynard Chapman at 998-5331.
We must continue to raise funds for a handicap ramp, dictionary projects for third- graders in Lewiston and Auburn schools and pay for our ever-increasing heating oil cost. Any help in obtaining newer equipment for bingo would be greatly appreciated. – Maynard Chapman, Bingo chairman
