BELMONT, N.H. – Beverly (Anderson) Newell, grandmother Morning Dove, 78, of 9 Durrell Mt. Road, died at her home on Tuesday, March 18, surrounded by family members.
She was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Center Harbor, N.H., the daughter of Rutherford B. and Dorothy (Nicholson) Anderson. She was a descendent of the Micmac Tribe.
She had been a resident of the Lakes Region for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a member of the N.H. Intertribal Native American Council and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1670 Women’s Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Donald Newell of Belmont; two sons, Peter Newell of Belmont and Michael Newell of Belmont; one daughter, Susan Montmagny of Grantham, N.H.; nine grandchildren, Julie Guarente, Jolene Price, Meredith Newell, Wesley Newell, Ben Montmagny, Elizabeth Montmagny, Jay Harris, Josh Newell and Katherine Gentes; three great-grandchildren, Kyle Price, Jordanna Price and Nicholas Guarente; a brother, John Anderson of Laconia, N.H.; three sisters, Eva Berwick of Belmont, Georgia Edwards of Laconia and Lynda McKenna of Three Forks, Mont.; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended family which includes the thousands she touched in the Native American and non-native community.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Lyn F. Newell; a brother, George Anderson; and a sister, June Richardson.
