LILLINGTON, N.C. – Gretchen L. Millett Dunn, 36, formerly of Mechanic Falls, died very unexpectedly March 12, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Lillington, N.C.
She was born Sept. 17, 1971, to Charlie and Sandy (Haas) Millett. She was educated in Mechanic Falls schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1989.
On April 6, 1991, she married her lifelong sweetheart and soul mate, James P. Dunn, who was critically injured in the crash. On April 9, 1994, she gave birth to her pride and joy, son Matthew.
The Army took her and her family all over the world and most recently settled them in Lillington, N.C. She was successful and respected in any career she chose. For many years, she worked as a banker, working her way up from teller to branch manager. In North Carolina, she had recently become a real estate agent, working for Global Real Estate.
She looked to each move with the Army as an adventure and her focus remained on making each new house a home for Jim and Matt. Her life revolved around her family, and she loved her new home in North Carolina. She was a wonderful and beautiful daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Her smile lit up the room, and she was a positive role model to all who knew her.
Some of her favorite times were returning to her roots in Maine to spend time with her family. She spent 12 days home at Christmas, and we are so thankful for the memories. They will be cherished forever. Rest in peace sweet Gretchen. We love you to the moon and back.
