SALEM, Ore. – Juliette G. Berube, 83, passed away quietly in the home of her granddaughter on Saturday, March 15. Though her family rejoices that her suffering is no more she will be missed terribly.

She was born Dec. 2, 1924, in Auburn. She was the daughter of Arthur and Oliva Gaudette.

In 1950, she married Victor Berube, whom she met while working at the Continental Mill.

In 1951, she gave birth to her daughter, Doris, who was born with cerebral palsy. Much ahead of her time, she believed that Doris should have all the opportunities of other children. She would carry her up and down three flights of stairs just so Doris could play outside with other children.

Known to many simply as Memmere, she showered those around her with a grandmother’s love. Her favorite pastime was spoiling children. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, watching her “stories” and a hot cup of oolong tea.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris Berube Blevins and husband, Micheal; her much loved granddaughter, Annee Goodrich and her husband, Robert; four great-grandchildren, Elisabeth, Caleb, Noah and Philip; and two sisters, Rita Gaudette and Bernadette Moore; and her nieces, Jane Caron, Kathy Roy, Connie Verreault and Diane Godden.

She was predeceased by her infant son, Robert; her husband, Victor; her parents, Arthur and Oliva Gaudette; her brothers, Emery Gideon Gaudette and Lionnel Gaudette; and her sister, Blanche Caron.
