NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – Karen Sleeper, 60, died March 13, in New Port Richey, Fla.
She was born in Lewiston, April 15, 1947, the daughter of Jack and Carolyn Meehl. She attended Sabattus schools.
She loved playing various card games and beano. Her hobbies included collecting giraffe figurines and sea shells. Her fondest memories were of laughing and joking while spending time with family and friends at the camp at Sabattus Lake.
She also very much enjoyed swimming and boating. Dancing was truly a passion of hers, and she often recalled times dancing with her cousins and friends as a youth.
She leaves behind many family friends in Maine and Florida including two children, Tammy Gilliland of Port Richey, Fla., and Bobbie Jo Fitzgerald of Memphis, Tenn.; her sister, Susan Poussard of Greene; two brothers, Daniel Meehl of Lewiston and Timothy Meehl of Monmouth; she will be missed by five grandchildren; one great-grandson; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her mother, Carolyn Meehl; stepfather, Jack Meehl; father, Dale Hanson; and brother, Michael Meehl.
A memorial service will be held in late May.
