I’ve been coping with this lousy weather by studying my Academic Decathlon information. I’ve also been catching up on my homework; especially my AP World History class. (Thanks for all of the homework.) There have been some amusing things that have occurred around my house this winter, especially to my siblings.
My brother has the lovely job of plowing the driveway with his four-wheeler. I get to shovel the back walkway and steps. My younger sister shovels the front walkway and steps.
One day, I wasn’t sure if school would keep the 2 hour delay or finally just give up and cancel school. I checked back and forth from watching the snow fall outside the French doors, and the flat screen T.V. in the family living room. Finally, the news had Union #44 listed as a cancellation. I smirked inwardly, feeling victorious in my own way, considering that I hadn’t finished half of my homework for that day. I yelled out to my brother, telling him that school was canceled for the day and he let out a “Whoop!” of excitement. He was happy knowing that he wouldn’t have to sit through classes that he’d either failed the year prior to this one or just didn’t want to deal with at the moment. Next thing I knew, he was doing donuts in the front yard, and Logan being Logan, he hit a snow bank and was thrown from his four-wheeler. He landed right into the fresh and fluffy powder. I, at first, was shocked and worried, but then he got back up and dusted himself off. I just couldn’t help but let out a fit of laughter, doubling over, and holding my sides. The look on his face will forever be imprinted in my mind. I allowed myself to have yet another good chuckle because of the absent-mindedness that my siblings and I seem to have every once-in-a-while.

Personally, I am tired of this snow, and every other type of precipitation we have gotten at this point. When we do have a day of warm weather and melting, everyone gets really excited. Within hours the melted snow is frozen onto the road again.
During the warmer seasons, my family and I have taken on a new adventurous hobby. Everyone has heard of motorcycles. We have two trikes. After my Dad got into a tractor-trailer accident, he wasn’t able to balance the weight of a motorcycle anymore. That’s when we decided to get the first trike, my Mom’s Corsair. We never planned on buying two. Being a family of four, we wanted to be able to take family trike trips. We couldn’t do that with the seat space on the Corsair. Dad went online and found the next trike we would buy, which was the Rewaco. With buying this trike, we were able to fit three people on my Dad’s. My Mom’s had room for two. This now meant I could ride on one trike with one parent, and my sister on the other.
We participated in the toy run last year, and have made a couple of local friends who also have bikes. We joined two riding organizations: “United Biker’s of Maine”, and “Brothers of the Third Wheel”. One couple has now become my adoptive uncle and aunt. They join us for rides with their trike. All of us have our own custom vests, filled with assorted pins and patches, that represent are personalities. We all have special riding nicknames. My name is Boo; an abbreviation of “Geeboo” which was my nickname as a baby.
Needless, to say, I want this snow gone, so I can go triking!!!
