PORTLAND (AP) – Cabela’s says its 125,000-square-foot store in Scarborough will open on May 15.
The hunting, fishing and outdoors outfitter says it expects millions of visitors to stop at the store during the first year of operation.
The Nebraska-based retailer says the store will include hundreds of animals in dioramas, a “Conservation Mountain” with running waterfalls and a stream, a trout pond and stuffed wild game, and a 10,700-gallon aquarium stocked with freshwater fish. Other attractions include a laser shooting gallery, a gun library and a restaurant.
The store, at Exit 42 of the Maine Turnpike, is roughly 35 miles from the L.L. Bean flagship store in Freeport, a longtime tourist attraction.
