LEWISTON – Aurelus J. Turcotte, 78, of 64 Boston Ave., Lewiston, died Tuesday, March 18, at the Marshwood Nursing home, after a long illness.
He was born in St. Benjamin, P.Q., Canada, on June 26, 1929, the son of Arthur and Alieda Jacques Turcotte. Educated in Canadian schools, he moved to the local area as a young man and worked as a lumberjack in the Maine woods. A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, he also belonged to the Knights of Columbus. He had a lifelong love of the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing and caring for his dog, Barkley.
Survivors include his loving wife, the former Doris Poulin of Lewiston; a daughter, Jocelyn M. Turcotte of Lewiston; three brothers, Gilles of St. Benjamin, P.Q., Canada, Viateur and wife, Debra, of Orlando, Fla., and Majella and wife, Jeanne D’Arc, of St. Benjamin, P.Q., Canada; two sisters, Nicole Gelinas of Montreal, P.Q., Canada, and Sylvie and husband, Remi Colgan, of St. Benjamin, P.Q., Canada.
He was predeceased by two sons, Carolus and Renee; two brothers, Jacques and Gregory; and two sisters, Jeannine Giroux and Denise Turcotte. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
