I hear people saying the Auburn mayor and council are lining their pockets. I think neither our Mayor nor any councilor would think of taking a bribe or anything like that. Each of them is honest and trustworthy.

I think some people employed in education had better be careful about what they send in e-mail. The school department in this city must cut its budget or go out of business. We taxpayers have cut our budgets just to survive. Prices on everything have risen. So when the councilors say cut your budget, they mean what they say.

I understand there are teachers e-mailing city officials saying that next the city will want them to teach 25 to 30 students without teachers’ aides in Auburn schools. What is wrong with teachers teaching 40 children today?

In my science class, I was taught without a teacher’s aide. Teachers were in control of the classroom. They were dedicated to their jobs.

I also believe teachers who don’t live or pay property taxes in Auburn shouldn’t be allowed to voice their opinion about spending the taxpayers’ money in this city. Also, keep in mind, new teachers come up every year for less money.

I wonder what would happen if I opened my mouth to my employer like that. I believe I would be working under their rules or be asked to look for a new job.

Teachers and administrators should remember for whom they work before sending e-mails to the councilors.
