Legion to meet

LISBON – America Legion Post and Unit 158, Webster Street, will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the post. Nominations for officers for the new Legion year will be held.

NARFE speaker

LEWISTON – The National Active Retired Federal Employee Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at the Ramada Inn.

Speaker will be Claire Breton, who will explain the stimulus package and how to receive it.

Plans for the meeting were made at the home of Vi Dumais, and attending were Dick St. Amand, Doris Hamel, Barbara Lake and Joanne Morse.

OES to install

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold installation of officers at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the Lisbon Falls Masonic Hall, Route 196.

District 4 Deputy Grand Matron Stephanie Dupal and Past Patron Roland Morgan will be the installing officers. Worthy Matron Jennifer Hogan and Worthy Patron Toby Williams and their officers will be installed.

Refreshments will be served following the meeting. It is a public installation, and anyone interested in learning more about Eastern Star is welcome.

Hobby night

AUBURN – Members of Danville Junction Grange will meet at the hall on Thursday, March 27, for a 7 p.m. meeting. Members are reminded to bring their hobbies to share for the program. Refreshments will be served at the close of the meeting. All members and guests are welcome.

Marines meeting

AUBURN – The Marine Corps League’s Central Maine Detachment will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 27, at the New Auburn American Legion Post 153, 71 South Main St., New Auburn (side door on Cook Street).

Commandant Richard McGuinnes will discuss upcoming activities. A light lunch will follow. Marines who would like to join are welcome.

DAR conference

AUBURN – Maine Order Daughters of the American Revolution will hold the 110th annual state conference Friday through Sunday, March 28 to 30, at the Hilton Garden Inn Riverwatch.

Maine State Regent Vrege Murray will preside. Peggy Hurd, national DAR treasurer, will be the speaker. Awards for DAR Community Service, Good Citizen, American History and Christopher Columbus essays will be presented Saturday night.

Scrapbook day

AUBURN – A Scrapbooking Day, Sponsored by St. Dominic Regional High School Class of 2009, will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 29, in the Commons. Proceeds will benefit Project Graduation.

Lunch and snacks will be provided. There will be goodie bags for all who attend and hourly door prizes. Cost is $25 which can be mailed payable to St. Dom RHS, 121Gracelawn Road, Auburn, ME 04210. For more information, e-mail [email protected].

Ticket winners

LEWISTON – The city of Lewiston has announced the winners of Lewiston MAINEiacs tickets for the Tuesday and Wednesday, March 25 and 26, Quebec Major Junior Hockey League first round playoff games at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, both against Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.

Residents whose names were randomly selected had previously entered a ticket drawing via phone, online and at city hall.

Winners receiving a pair of tickets for the March 25 game are: Christopher Turcotte, Jake Paris, Moe Beaudoin, Rita Martin, S.Y. Turcotte, Robert Blouin, Frank Vallee and Ron Girouard.

March 26 winners are: Elaine Brackett, Annette Masselli, Deborah Levesque, Sandi Beaudoin, Eric Marenghi, Brian Boucher, Bonnie Moore and Dell Gray.
