TURNER – SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education will offer several classes during April. Call 225-3478 to register.
“Get Ready to Ride” will start Wednesday, April 2. It is a four-week classroom course for horse enthusiasts of all disciplines, English, Western, pleasure, jumping, from beginners to competitors. Participants will learn how to gain better balance, coordination and communication with their horse. There will be individual exercises to get fit, gain strength and increase energy.
A one-night workshop Monday, April 7, will focus on “Meeting Your Spirit Guide.” Everyone has at least one spirit guide who is with them from birth and stays throughout their lifetime to assist them on their path. The interactive workshop focuses on connecting with this special being.
“Yoga for Health” session two will start Monday, April 7. Participants will earn to relax the body, still the mind and rejuvenate the soul. All levels are welcome.
Bow hunter and hunter and gun safety classes will begin Tuesday, April 8, and run Tuesday and Thursday nights for two weeks. Children must be at least age 10 and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Maine law requires that anyone who has not held a previous hunting license must take the class. Twelve mandatory hours are required to complete the certification. A cross bow class will be presented Thursday, April 29, for residents who have completed the bow hunter class.
SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education and the American Red Cross will present a three-week adult, child, infant CPR and standard first aid class starting Monday, April 7. It will provide the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and help injured or suddenly ill persons until more advanced emergency medical help arrives.
SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education and the state will offer an ATV safety course. The one-day class will be offered Saturday, April 12. Participants have to be at least 10 years old. Anyone under 16 should be accompanied by an adult. The instructor will cover ATV safety features, land use regulation and Maine law pertaining to ATV use.
Participants will turn a small block of wood into a colorful doll that can sit on a windowsill in a one-night class on Wednesday, April 2. To make the doll, small pieces of fabric will be used for clothing and a wooden ball for the head.
