Dear Sun Spots: Thanks to the readers who have previously helped our schools! Turner Elementary School and Turner Primary School are trying to raise money for their schools. We are collecting empty inkjet cartridges, empty laser cartridges, old/used cell phones, game consoles and laptops. In the month of April we are having a cell phone drive. For any cell phone we recycle, the school will earn more money for that month. Any readers who would like to donate please call me at 754-8170, and I can make arrangements to pick them up. Thank you. – Laurie Labbe, Turner.

Dear Sun Spots: I am a 17-year-old currently taking a photography class. In this class we use 35mm SLR cameras. We do have some, but not enough for just one person. Plus, I love this type of camera. If anyone is willing to donate one or sell me one at a reasonable price, I would pay shipping and handling or meet you. I would be so thankful. Thanks in advance. I may be reached at (207) 782-0318. – Kelsi-Rae, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: Who in the area has a quilting machine and does quilt finishing for customers? I know this question has printed before but of course, I did not keep it! – Marcia, Monmouth.

Answer: In addition to responses from readers, Sun Spots has found two local people for you to contact with your request. Koleen Painchaud at Quiltworks Unlimited is at 99 Avenue Road in Wales. She does not have regular business hours, but you may call her at (207) 375-8221 to schedule an appointment for services. Also, Alice Koroski (Virginia Anne Quilt Company) in Lisbon Falls is available to do quilt finishing. She may be reached at (207) 353-7154 for more information.

Dear Sun Spots: My name is Jim Richard, and my sixth great-grandfather was Ebenezer Cleaves. I received information from E.V. Spiller: Ebenezer lived in New Gloucester, Danville, then moved to Norway. He was the first Cleaves to live in the Norway area. Does anyone have any information about him or his ancestors; he was alive in 1789-1790 and had a son, Humphrey, born at that time. I know of two of his sons. One was Charles Cleaves, born in 1793, married Betsey Lombard, born on Jan. 21, 1795. Charles and Betsey were my fifth great-grandparents and had children. The other son was Humphrey Cleaves, born in 1789-1790, married Abigail Poole. He had many children and more than one wife. I think one may have died earlier.

Charles Cleaves died in Abbot, Maine, before September 1862 and Humphrey lived in Dexter. Are there any relatives or descendants of Charles or Humphrey with any information about Ebenezer Cleaves or who his ancestors were? If so, would they please get in touch with me? My address is Jim Richard, 4466 Holcomb St., Port Townsend, WA 98368-2132. I may also be reached at [email protected], or (360) 385-4155. – Jim Richard, Port Townsend, WA.
