I have been a voter for more than 30 years and have never heard a presidential candidate speak openly about “the inadequacy of my candidacy,” as Barack Obama did in his recent brilliant and moving speech on race in Philadelphia.
That was a wonderfully brave and vulnerable moment of a truth that all of us must own for ourselves before we can move forward and actually accomplish anything real and good in our own lives, and in the life of our community and nation. We have to acknowledge that no one has, by themselves, the capacity to lead flawlessly.
On the basis of that public recognition (and a sufficient number of sound policy leanings) by this front-running Democratic candidate, my confidance in Obama has surged over his competition.
I have just one final word: Gobama!
