State Rep. Larry Sirois, D-Turner, recognized the achievements of the Leavitt Area High School Concert Band of Turner at the Maine House of Representatives. Leavitt band members earned the silver medal at the Heritage Music Festival in New York City, and five of the musicians also performed in the 2007 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of Macy’s Great American Marching Band. Sirois asked the band to give a concert prior to the legislative session, and they also performed the national anthem. William Buzza is band director.
