LEWISTON – Eight local rock bands will perform live Saturday, May 24, when WCYY FM presents Rave ‘n’ Rage 2008 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Global Spectrum, operator of the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, and WCYY FM collaborated to create Rave ‘n’ Rage 2008 in hopes of helping up-and-coming local acts that want to move their music from nightclubs to center stage before a large audience.

Featured will be local alternative rock bands Radiation Year, Covered in Bees and The Killing Moon – plus one band chosen by WCYY listeners through a station contest.

Also playing will be heavy-hitters Dead Season, Cambiata, Twisted Roots (which opened for Ozzy Osbourne in Portland in January) and 6Gig, which reunited recently after three years.

“This show is a great opportunity for new artists to get their music out to the public and showcase their talents,” said Jason Blumenfeld, general manager of the Colisee.

“This show is a sign of all that’s going on with music in Maine. WCYY is excited to team up with the Androscoggin Bank Colisee to offer this exposure to some fantastic bands,” said Mark Curdo, host of WCYY’s weekly local alternative rock show “Spinout.”

Tickets, $15, will go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, at the Colisee box office on Birch Street. Tickets can also be purchased calling 1-877-GO-TIX-GO, or online at www.thecolisee.com. For more information, call 783-2009 or log on to www.thecolisee.com or www.wcyy.com.
