AUBURN – The Valley of the Androscoggin Scottish Rites will confer the 18th degree in the H.H. Dickey Chapter of Rose Croix at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 28, at the Auburn Masonic Hall, Turner Street.
A 6:30 supper will be put on by the women of Pine Cone Chapter, Order of Eastern Star. Certificates will be presented to 50- and 60-year members and past officers’ jewels to past presiding officers of the chapter. All Scottish Rites Masons are welcome.
La Survivance
LEWISTON – La Survivance Franaise will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at the Multi-Purpose Center. Students of Anne Moreau Burg’s advanced French class at Lewiston High School will present a French-Canadian poetry program.
Tickets for the May 4 banquet featuring Franco-American singer Josée Vachon will be available. Fleurange Anctil will serve as hostess. New members are welcome.
Legion meeting
LISBON FALLS – Nelson-Conley American Legion Post 66 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the Slovak Meeting Room, Avery Street. The nominating committee will present a slate of proposed officers for the coming Legion year. All members, prospective members and active-duty personnel are invited.
Council to meet
LEWISTON – Plans have been made for an L&A Council meeting to be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.
The agenda will include the spring fair on April 26, Memorial Day parade and ceremony on May 24, Flag Day on June 14, recognition stone and the final acceptance of the amended bylaws.
Baby events
LEWISTON – Two S-M-A-R-T Baby events will be held during April. Sensory, motor, attachment, reading and temperament stations will have ideas and activities to stimulate a baby’s growth. The interactive event are for parents with babies newborn to 24 months.
The first will be held from 5:45 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the Auburn Public Library. It is free and no registration is required.
The second event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, April 11, at the Lewiston Public Library . If is also free and no registration is required.
Healthy Families Androscoggin, a program of Advocates for Children, is joining with the Auburn and Lewiston public libraries to host the baby events. For more information, call 783-3990.
Bridge play
LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners of the quarterly club championship at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 25 were: first, Patricia Garcia and David Lock; second, Martine Begert and Nancy Lindgren; third, Jeanine Kivus and Fred Letourneau.
Winners of the quarterly club championship at Schooner Estates in Auburn on March 26 were: first, Martine Begert and David Lock; second, Jean and Phil Bird; third, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; fourth, Anna Vitiello and Rosemarie Goodwin; first in B, Mary Leahey and Claire Lyons.
