LEWISTON – Interfaith Maine and the Bates Multi-Faith Chaplaincy invite the public to participate in an interfaith dinner and dialogue from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 30, in Skelton Lounge in Chase Hall on the Bates College campus. The topic to be discussed is “Young Adults as Leaders in Building Interfaith Community.”

Three Mainers of different faiths will discuss their experience in attending the national Interfaith Youth Core conference last fall. Roundtable discussion about building youth interfaith cooperation will follow. A light supper will be provided by the Bates Multi-Faith Chaplaincy. There is no charge but donations will be accepted. Anyone who plans to attend is asked to RSVP to http://www.interfaithmaine.us/programs.htm so adequate food will be prepared.

Interfaith Maine is a Portland-based organization dedicated to “seeking peace and justice through deepening interfaith relationships and understanding.” Each year it invites members of faith communities to come together informally to break bread and join in discussions that celebrate religious pluralism and combat hatred based in a lack of familiarity with difference.

Dinner discussions in previous years have been hosted by synagogues, churches, a masjid and educational institutions. More information on Interfaith Maine may be found at www.interfaithmaine.us.

The Bates Multi-Faith Chaplaincy is staffed by Chaplains Bill Blaine-Wallace and Emily Wright-Timko. They offer a variety of opportunities to students, faculty and staff for the support and nurture of their spiritual lives and learning.
