Auburn – Bertrand R. Boilard, 86, formerly of New Auburn, died peacefully early Saturday morning, March 29, at Odd Fellows Home of Maine Health Care Center, with his loving family at his side.
He was born in Auburn on Feb. 21, 1922, a son of Josephat (Willie) and Evelina (Pelletier) Boilard. He was educated in Auburn schools, graduated from Edward Little High School and Robert’s School of Business. He was a lifelong resident of this community. On Feb. 14, 1942, Bert married the former Yvonne Dion.
He was an Army veteran having served his country during World War II until his honorable discharge. He was employed for 35 years at Country Kitchen (Lepage) Bakery, first as a route salesman then as the head carpenter. All through his life he was self-employed as a carpenter and handyman. He was a member of St. Louis Church, the Knights of Columbus, Andy Valley Council 8742, of which he was a charter member, and Auburn Senior Citizens. Among his favorite pastimes were reading and of course, carpentry work.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Yvonne Boilard of Auburn; two sons, Robert Boilard and wife, Rona, of Lewiston and Albert Boilard and wife, Samantha, of Auburn; three grandchildren, Lisa Boilard and companion, Nathan Kramarz, of Lewiston, Sonya Spencer and husband, Jason, of Derry, N.H., Gina Martin and companion, Schrone Hardeman, of California; two great-grandchildren, Gina’s daughter, Olivia and Lisa’s soon-to-be-born son, Jack; a brother, Reginald Boilard and wife, Constance, of Greene; and several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Cecile Turgeon, Antionette Bourassa and Theresa Gagnon, predeceased him.
