AUBURN – Muriel Cecile Strong, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on Friday, March 28, at Clover Manor. She resided at 143 Mill St. in Auburn, until she was admitted to the nursing home 2 years ago.
Born Muriel Cecile Lambert, June 3, 1921, in Lewiston, she was a daughter of Adrien and Evangeline Lambert. She lived a very full life despite the health issues she was plagued with in the latter part of her life. On Nov. 3, 1944, she married Albert Strong of the Royal Navy.
During her career she worked at Bath Iron Works during World War II and the Bleachery in Lewiston. She also worked in food service at Bates College and Friends Catering Business. She also worked in the nursery at St. Mary’s General Hospital for 25 years.
She was a member of Holy family Parish, the American Legion Post 22, the Canadian Legion, the Eagles Club, the Emblem Club and the March of Dimes.
She and her husband devoted their lives to community service. Because of their dedication and inspiration as volunteers for the March of Dimes, an award was named after Muriel and her husband, Albert.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Albert Strong; her children, Richard Strong and his wife, Jacqueline, Patricia Hall and Linda Andrews and her husband, James; her grandchildren, Michael Strong and his wife, Vanessa, Jill Turcotte and her husband, Michael, Matt Strong, Chad Hall, Brian Andrews and Sean Andrews and his wife, Michelle; her great-grandchildren, Laken and Macy Turcotte, Maximillian and Dante Strong and Emily Andrews; she is also survived by one brother, Gerard Lambert and wife, Doria; and one sister, Gloria Dennison and husband, Eddie.
Those who knew her will always have stories to tell and pleasant memories to share of a woman who touched their lives in so many ways.
