Why are our elected officials cutting funding for schools, health care and welfare, while using tax dollars so drug addicts can receive methadone?

People choose to do drugs. People don’t choose to be sick, but the sick get their programs closed while the addicts get more stuff free. It’s as if the state of Maine enables drug users.

I have worked with people who are on methadone and it is scary. How would people feel if they knew that drug users might be taking care of them, or their loved ones?

No wonder the state is known as the vacation state… agencies give out drugs to keep addicts on a permanent vacation.

The worst part is that it’s legal, and some know how to work the system to get the drugs instead of the old-fashioned rehabilitation. The system caters to the habit to keep addicts addicted.

The state is acting like a dealer, raising drug users, and taxpayers’ money is being used.

I would hope that government officials will realize what is important before it is too late. To me, what is important is heat and medicine for the elderly, and education for the children.

Nothing for the loser who chooses drugs, knowing the state will pick up the tab.
