In response to Kenneth Chance’s letter March 25, I also believe the United States has dropped the ball on controlling oil prices.
Since the ’70s, this nation has been swapping dollars for oil with the Middle East at an escalating rate when it could have been raising mpg standards. Instead, lawmakers did nothing and made automobile manufacturers happy.
Now, transportation costs are spiraling upward to the detriment of all business.
It is time to elect people who want to fix the problem, and it is time consumers support products that minimize the impact on the environment.
