LEWISTON – Clement “Chief” G. Favreau, 83, of Weymouth Street, Brunswick, died Sunday, March 30, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Brunswick on July 28, 1924, a son of Wilbrod and Annie Dionne Favreau. He attended Brunswick schools before serving his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was a recipient of two Purple Hearts. He married Theresa Carmen Provencher Sept. 1, 1947, in the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Lewiston.

He was a member of the Brunswick Police Department from 1954 to 1974, retiring after 10 years as chief of police. He then worked with the Brunswick Naval Air Station security until 1989. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church, Brunswick, and a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but especially cherished his time with his grandchildren, his church family and friends. He also greatly enjoyed dog sitting his son’s black lab, Kona. He will be warmly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and practical jokes.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Theresa; two sons, David G. and his wife, Debra Favreau, of Sabattus and Jeffrey C. and his wife, Lara Favreau, of Saco; a brother, Russell Favreau of Brunswick; four grandchildren, Sean D. Favreau and Amanda J. Favreau, both of Sabattus, and Catherine E. Favreau and Cole J. Favreau, both of Saco.

He was predeceased by a brother, Henry Favreau.
