STRONG – A plan that would consolidate SADs 9 and 58 and Coplin and Highland plantations into one school system has been submitted to the Maine Department of Education.
The plan calls for the system to be named Western Mountains School District if voters approve it.
A regional planning committee established the plan and then made changes recommended by attorneys before it went before the existing school boards of each system.
The boards voted to submit the plan to the state in mixed votes during the week of March 24.
