NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) – New Haven police say two workers have been safely rescued after a scaffolding accident at a Yale University building that left them stranded nearly 100 feet in the air.

One worker was brought to the ground by contractor, Turner Construction, using a high-lift. Police say city fire crews rescued the second. The company was doing renovation work on Yale’s art and architecture building when a cable failed on the swing staging they were standing on, say company officials.

Turner Construction deputy operations manager Ron Denny says both men were engineers inspecting a wall and neither was hurt. Their names have not been released.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. A spokeswoman for the city says the accident is under investigation.
