LEWISTON – Eugene “Sonny” Napoleon Caron Jr., 64, of Poland, died peacefully early Friday, April 4, with his loving family by his side to join his father, mother and brothers after fighting a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 25, 1943, the son of Eugene and Simone (Gagne) Caron.

He attended and graduated from Lewiston schools in 1961. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1967, 1st Battalion Reinforced.

He moved furniture for 27 years. Most recently, he worked for Custom Laminates for 10 years.

He was a loving family man who enjoyed cheering on his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also loved fishing and day trips to Mohegan.

He is survived by his lifetime partner, Bernice Breton; stepchildren, Diane Dubois and her husband, Donald, of Lewiston, Brenda Dubois and her husband, Steve, of Lewiston, Richard Breton and his wife, Cheryl, of Monmouth, Gerry Breton and his partner, Lisa Roy, of Lewiston, Pamela Murray and her husband, Jeff, of Auburn, Danny Breton of Lewiston and Alan Breton and his wife, Tonya, of Auburn; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Richard Caron and his wife, Lois, of Oxford, Marie Jane Spencer and her husband, Norman, of Wilton, Joanne, Diane and Marcel of Lewiston, Irene Thibodeau of Lewiston and sister-in-law, Claire Caron of Lewiston; five nephews; five nieces; three great-nephews; and four great-nieces.

He was predeceased by his parents; and brothers, Robert, Donald and Roger Caron.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the caregivers of Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice and also to the staff at the Hospice House of Androscoggin.
