LEWISTON – Jean D. Boutin, 92, formerly of 264 Williams Road, Sabattus, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, at Montello Manor.

He was born in Lewiston, March 30, 1916, the son of Didace and Catherine Bilodeau Boutin. After his birth the family returned to Canada. He was the youngest of 12 brothers and five sisters.

He returned to Lewiston at the age of 18, where he met Lucienne D. Faucher and they were married Oct. 22, 1938. She predeceased him Sept. 1, 2003.

He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a carpenter, having owned and operated Jean Boutin Construction, until his retirement in 1978.

He was a member of Holy Cross Church, the Knights of Columbus Council at Holy Cross and the American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, refinishing furniture and quiet times spent at his camp, where he would cut wood and enjoy the great outdoors.

He is survived by two daughters, Joan Perrier and husband, Henry, of Sabattus and Monique Poulin and husband, Andre, of Lewiston; five grandchildren, Celeste Sampson and husband, Dennis, Steven Perrier, John Perrier and wife Danielle, Andrea Haddad and husband, Mike and Kevin Poulin and wife, Kate; six great-grandchildren, Jeremy Sampson, Alex and Megan Haddad, Kiernan Poulin and Faith and Noah Perrier; and a sister, Jeanne Lamonde of Quebec.

He was predeceased by 11 brothers, Jacques, Arthur, Cyril, Clovis, Phillippe, Leo, Edmond, George, Joseph, Wilfred and Louis; and four sisters, Sister l’Evangeliste (Emma), Rose Alma, Marie and Celestine.

His family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers at Montello Manor, Androscoggin Hospice Care, Odd Fellows Residential Care and to his longtime physician, Dr. George Morrissette.
