LEWISTON – Annette N. “Ann” Jalbert, 71, of Burbank Street, Lewiston, passed Friday, April 4, at her home after many years of suffering with COPD and many other debilitating illnesses.
She was born in Lewiston on Jan. 30, 1937, the daughter of Raymond and Eugenie Roy Levesque. She graduated from Lewiston High School in 1955 and was a secretary at the Bates Mill until her marriage to Roger L. Jalbert on April 29, 1957.
Until his retirement from the U.S. Air Force, they were stationed in Germany, Japan and several states in the U.S. Upon her husband’s retirement, she worked at Social Security in Lewiston until she and her husband founded Jay’s Appliance Service in 1974. She was the company’s office manager and bookkeeper.
She loved to read, cook, cross stitch, do the New York Times crossword puzzle, spend time at the ocean and travel until her illness prohibited these pleasures.
Ann was a communicant of Holy Cross Church. She was the founder and past president of the Hummel Collectors Club of Portland. She was also a member of the National Secretaries Association and the YWCA.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Roger, of Lewiston; a sister, Rachel Jacques and husband, Robert E., of Lewiston; nieces and nephews, Charles St. Pierre (godson) and wife, Kornnapa, of Lewiston, Julie Rioux and husband, Michael, of Minot, Jeffrey Levesque of Port Orange, Fla., and Patricia Levesque of Sabattus.
She was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Levesque.
