YORK – The wedding of Janet Ferrante and James Robert Giguere was held at 2:15 p.m., Oct. 20, at Short Sands Beach gazebo at York Beach. Pastor Robert Giguere officiated at the ceremony.
Mrs. Giguere is the daughter of James and Valerie Ferrante of Auburn. Mr. Giguere is the son of Robert and Beverly Giguere of Lewiston.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a satin ivory strapless gown in A-line style with side draped bodice, beaded lace appliqués and a chapel train. She carried a replica of her mother’s bouquet, featuring white gladioli, ivy posey, Calla lillies and white stephanotis with cascading green ivy.
Tina Kelly was matron of honor for her sister. Bridesmaids were Oneica Hyde, friend of the couple, Julie Nason, cousin of the bride, and Maureen Holland, friend of the couple. Olivia Kelly and Allison Kelly, nieces of the bride, were flower girls.
Performing the duties of best man was a brother of the bridegroom, Rick Giguere. Ushers were Tom Kelly, brother-in-law of the bride, John DiMajo, friend of the couple, and Ray Michaud, friend of the couple.
A reception followed at Union Bluff Meetinghouse in York Beach, after which the couple traveled to Newport, R.I. They also took a trip to Hawaii in February.
The bride is a 1990 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School and a 1994 graduate of the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She received a master’s degree in literacy education from the University of Southern Maine in 2002 and is a fifth-grade teacher at Loranger Middle School at Old Orchard Beach.
The bridegroom is a 1984 graduate of Lewiston High School and a 1987 graduate of Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He is a self-employed carpenter.
