PORTLAND – John Eli Doucette, 49, of Harrison, peacefully entered into eternity with his family by his side on Wednesday, April 2, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born in Boston, Mass., on Nov. 25, 1958, the son of Gerald M. and Charlene (Gravelin) Doucette Jr. He graduated from Lake Region High School and served in the U.S. Army 497th Engineer Company.

He worked in a variety of woodworking and construction jobs until his disease left him unable to work. John was always willing to help anyone in need of help. He spent most of his spare time fishing, boating and snowmobiling.

He is survived by his parents, Gerald M. Jr. and Charlene G. Doucette of North Bridgton and Titusville, Fla.; brothers, Gregory Doucette and his wife, Maureen, of Maynard, Mass., Todd Gerald Doucette of Boston, Mass., Mark Doucette and his wife, Carol, of Harrison, and Scott Doucette and his wife, Brenda, of North Bridgton; and a sister, Beth Baker and her husband, Matt, of North Bridgton.

He is also survived by paternal grandfather Gerald M. Doucette Sr. of Weaverville, N.C.; maternal grandmother Martha C. Gravelin of Sutton, Mass.; an uncle, Robert Doucette and his wife, Anita, of Weaverville, N.C.; two aunts, Nancy Brigham and her husband, James, of Sutton, Mass., and Marcia Rosebrooks of Oxford, Mass.; eight nieces and nephews; and his two “kiddens,” Stovepipe and Lap Top.
