OES program

AUBURN – Pine Cone Chapter 26, Order of the Eastern Star, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Masonic Hall, 102 Turner St. Pine Cone’s supper crew will be honored.

The following members will be presented with their Each One – Bring One membership pin from General Grand Chapter: Ina Brainerd, Diana Carr, Nancy Harris, Mary Lawlor, Cynthia Matthews.

George Herrick Sr. will receive his Rob Morris Jewel and Each One – Bring One membership pin.

The meeting will be preceded by a potluck supper at 6:15 p.m.

All Eastern Star members are welcome.

Square dance

PARIS – The Swinging Bears Square Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, South Paris.

George McGibbon will call a combination of mainstream and plus for the square dancing.

Class members about ready for graduation should be ready to do the mainstream dancing.

Bernie Porter will cue for the round dancing. Costs is $5 a person with a chance for a door prize. Non dancers are invited to watch at no charge. Refreshments will be available at intermission.

Fabric, craft fair

AUBURN – The High Street Congregational Church will hold its eighth annual fabric and craft supply fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19. Table rentals are $15 each. The sale features supplies, not the finished product.

Parenting talk

AUBURN – Pam Leo, a Maine author and parent educator, spoke on March 29 at the Advocates for Children’s 17th annual Parenting Matters Conference.

More than 100 parents attended the day-long event, which featured more than 20 workshops and exhibits from 24 community groups.

Leo offered practical, compassionate and empowering parenting tools and theories about parenting from her book called “Connection Parenting.”
