LEWISTON – A Bowdoin man remained in critical condition Sunday night following a Saturday night crash in Lewiston that left more than 770 area residents in the dark for more than three hours.
Lewiston Police Lt. Mark Watson said that Alvernon McBride, 34, of Bowdoin, lost control of his car around 10:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Grove Street near the turnpike. He said McBride went off the road and hit a utility pole, snapping it in half.
The crash cut power to homes in Lewiston, Lisbon and Sabattus until 1:30 a.m. Sunday, according to a representative at Central Maine Power Co.
Watson said the crash remains under investigation.
