Planning parade

OTISFIELD – Residents are welcome to attend the first meeting to plan the July 4th activities and parade for this year. It will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the town office. For more information, contact Pat Dyer-Haggerty at 627-6950.

Church supper

OXFORD – A public supper will be held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Grace Fellowship Church, Poplar Avenue. The menu will include chop suey, baked beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, brown bread, cornbread, biscuits, and gingerbread. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 children age 12 and under. Benefit supper

PARIS – A benefit supper for Donovan Dodge Sr. will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Paris Fire Station, 137 Western Ave., sponsored by the Paris Fireman’s Relief Association and the Snowhopper’s Snowmobile Club. Proceeds will help defray medical expenses. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children 12 and under and free for age 3 and under. There will be a 50/50 drawing.

Smorgasbord set

PARIS – A smorgasbord supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at the VFW Hall. Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Proceeds will benefit the Waterford Fair Association. For more information, call Lillian at 743-2641.

Saturday dance

PARIS – The Swinging Bears Square Dance Club will hold a dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Oxford Hills Middle School, Pine Street, Paris.

George McGibbon will call a combination of mainstream and plus for the square dancing. Class members about ready for graduation should be ready to do the mainstream dancing. Bernie Porter will cue for the round dancing. Costs is $5 a person with a chance for a door prize.

Church service

PARIS – The fourth Sunday after Easter will be celebrated on April 13 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfield Road, Paris. Sunday school and Bible study, “Making the Old Story Our Story,” will start at 9 a.m. followed by worship at 10:15. There will be coffee, snacks and fellowship after the service.

Heywood Club

NORWAY – The Heywood Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the clubhouse. The speaker will be Randy Olson talking about “It’s Your Choice” on health and fitness.

AARP to meet

PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter, AARP, will meet on Monday, April 14, at the First Congregational Church, East Main Street, Paris. A meatloaf luncheon will be served at noon at a cost of $6.50. Reservations are required by calling Thelma at 743-6124 by noon Friday, April 11.

The meeting will begin at 1 p.m. After the meeting, gift bags will be filled to be delivered by the Extension home companions.

Hunter safety

NORWAY – The Norway-Paris Fish and Game Association has scheduled a spring hunter safety course at the Little Red School House, Route 118. Classes will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. starting Monday, April 14, and continue on April 16, 18, 21 and 23.

The class is open to everyone ages 10 and over. Children 10 to 12 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

The instructors are volunteers and the association requests a $5 donation to help with miscellaneous expenses. Call Jim at 743-8339 or Sylvia at 998-4240 to reserve a seat.

Society meeting

GORHAM, N.H. – The Gorham Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at the Gorham Congregational Church, corner of Main and Church streets. Members are asked to attend, and the public is welcome. There will be light refreshments.

Books are fun

BRIDGTON – Bridgton Hospital will be the host site for a Books are Fun Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 24. Books are Fun is a Reader’s Digest company.

An assortment of new books, at savings of up to 70 percent, will be available. A percentage of the profits will be donated to Bridgton Hospital Annual Fund.

Bridge results

NORWAY – Oxford Hills Duplicate Bridge Club met April 4 in the Fare Share Commons, Main Street, when a four-table Howell movement was played.

Finishing first in Flight A were Kathy and Pete Cummings; second, Marj Street and Les Buzzell; first in Flight B, Cindy and Bob Kirchherr; second, Bev Dolan and Bev Pelletier. There will be another duplicate game at 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 11. All bridge players are welcome. A partner is guaranteed and there is parking in the rear of the building.
