FARMINGTON – Irene T. Brackett, 95, of Rangeley, died peacefully early Saturday, April 5, at the Edgewood Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Dallas Plantation in July 30, 1912, the fifth child of seven to Vincent and Estelle (Taylor) Mason. She married Gerald Brackett and later moved to Rangeley.
After the death of her husband, she worked at various local stores as well as the Stratton Mill in order to raise her four children. Her home was always open to friends and family including those of her children as they grew up.
She was a master pitch player and loved to play cards with her family. She enjoyed yearly family reunions to see her extended family.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Brackett and his wife, Joan, of Rangeley, Jerry Brackett and his wife, Jane, of Starks, Mary Linane of Bellingham, Mass., and June Martin and her companion, Steve DeHorn, of Penacook, N.H.; a stepson, Gerald Brackett Jr. and his wife, Trudy, of Maine; a sister, Hazel Boutilier of Rangeley; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; son, David; great-granddaughter, Tia; and five brothers and sisters.
