JAY – The School Committee approved a three-year contract with the secretaries bargaining unit Thursday, giving them a 2.75 percent salary increase this year, 3 percent next year, and a 2.75 increase in the last year.
Health insurance stays the same, Superintendent Robert Wall said Monday, with a single plan calling for a 10.8 percent employee contribution, and 16.2 percent for plans covering two adults, a family and an adult with children.
As the cost of health insurance rises, so will the amount workers contribute, Wall said.
The committee also voted to support a grievance filed by cafeteria workers by authorizing clarification of the job description for the kitchen manager and to modify the bargaining unit to exclude that manager, Wall said.
Contract negotiations with cafeteria workers have not been settled yet, he added.
The committee also requested some modification to a policy related to school attendance, including trying to shorten it by combining three policies together, he said.
