FARMINGTON – Perley K. Smith, 72, of Weld, passed away Monday, April 7, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Jay, a son of Hamlin and Ruth (Sprague) Smith. On June 4, 1977, he married Marcia Hiscock on Center Hill in Weld.

He was a retired carpenter and was a member of the Mystic Tie Lodge 154 of Weld.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, cooking, hiking to look for waterfalls, playing cards, getting in the car to go for a ride or to visit with family and friends and getting together for family outings and cookouts.

He had a great love for his family and especially enjoyed holiday get-togethers with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially loved and will be greatly missed by his dogs, Bonnie and Clyde.

He will long be remembered for his world famous beans and biscuits.

He is survived by his wife, Marcia Smith of Weld; sons, Kenneth Smith of Weld, Jeff Barker and his wife, Cheryl, of Jay and Rick Haley and his wife, Debbie, of Farmingdale; daughters, Susan Sylvia and her husband, Lynn, of Yarmouth, Mass., Olivia Lake and her companion, Troy Flaherty, of Winthrop, Carol Proctor and her husband, Daniel, of Weld, Cindy Rollins and her husband, Mark, of Stratton, Terri Maxwell and her husband, Tony, of Livermore and Wendy Haley and her companion, Mike, of Gardiner; 31 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren, and awaiting the birth of a great-grandson; brothers, Omer of Wilton and Charles of Carthage; sisters, Phyllis Cochran of Wilton, Evelyn Conkey of Wilton, Joan Gray of Jay, Betty Nadeau of Livermore Falls and Mary-Jane Baker of Wilton; an aunt, Dot of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by a son, Robert Haley; brother, Frank Smith; and sister, Romona Smith.
