AUBURN – Ethelle “Effie” S. Bryant, 65, of Bryant Terrace in Mechanic Falls, died Thursday, April 10, at The Hospice House after a long fight with cancer.
She was born in Biddeford Nov. 6, 1942, a daughter of Everett Stoddard and Olive (Barry) Stoddard Hinkley. On Oct. 10, 1975, she married Robert W. Bryant Sr. in New Gloucester. Effie spent many years employed at Mac’s Variety and Cole Farms as a cook. She recently retired from the Auburn school district as a bus aide. She was an active member of East Auburn Baptist Church.
She leaves her husband, Robert W. Bryant Sr. of Mechanic Falls; six children, Robert Bryant of Poland, Lynne Ames of Poland, Jeffrey M. Bryant of Mars, Pa., Jamie Dodge of Littleton, N.H., Bryce E. Bryant Sr. of Evans City, Pa., and Elizabeth Fenoff of Littleton, N.H.; a brother, Mylan A. Stoddard of Standish; a sister, Danelle Bachelder of Florida; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and stepbrothers and stepsisters, George Hinkley of New Gloucester, Harold Hinkley of Richmond, Geraldine Brown of Durham, Patricia Taylor of Lewiston, Sandra Madsen of Gray, Terry Sanborn of New Gloucester and Karen Grant of Gray.
She was predeceased by her parents, Olive B. Hinkley and Everett Stoddard; her brothers, Barry and Ellsworth Stoddard; and her stepfather, Maurice Hinkley.
The family would like to thank Dr. Erickson and staff in the oncology department and Dr. Jones and staff in the radiation department at CMMC as well as all the staff and Dr. Austin and Dr. Cabatingin at The Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care and Hopsice for the great care given during this difficult time.
