PORTLAND – The Maine Employers’ Mutual Insurance Co. recently celebrated Marden’s recognition in the OSHA Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program. MEMIC insures Marden’s for its workers’ compensation through Richard Crossman of TD Banknorth Insurance. Dan Clark of MEMIC’s loss control and safety department presented recognition certificates at Marden’s monthly management meeting in March.

According to OSHA, SHARP recognizes small employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system. Acceptance into SHARP by OSHA is an achievement of status given to business leaders when they succeed at being a model for worksite safety and health. Upon receiving SHARP recognition, Marden’s will be exempt from programmed inspections during the period that its SHARP certification is valid.

Marden’s was also awarded by MEMIC in 2006 when they received a workplace safety award.
