PARIS – A 27-year-old man who held police at bay during a three-and-a-half hour standoff last month has been indicted in Oxford County.
Kyle Edwards Hunt of 23 East Oxford Road in Oxford is charged with Class A gross sexual assault, Class B burglary, Class C violation of a protective order, Class D criminal mischief and Class E violation of conditions of release. He is also charged with Class C criminal threatening and Class D domestic assault.
Hunt is charged with breaking into a woman’s apartment in Paris on March 25 and forcing her at gunpoint to perform a sex act on him. He was arrested hours later at his home after a standoff with police, during which he fired three shots with a Taurus .357-caliber Magnum revolver and threatened suicide. No one was injured in the incident.
On March 11, Hunt was arrested on charges related to the same woman, and a two-shot Derringer was seized from his truck’s glove compartment.
Hunt remained at the Oxford County Jail on Thursday on $25,000 cash or $50,000 surety bail.
