BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) -It’s springtime and out come noisy college students.
The city of Burlington is working with the University of Vermont, Champlain College and student groups to keep noise complaints to a minimum.
The problem is drunk students who go out to bars and are loud when they walk back up the hill to campus at 2 a.m.
The noise and litter have prompted angry complaints from city residents.
Last week Burlington police stepped-up their patrols with officers on foot, bikes and in cruisers and will continue through mid-May.
The city says the patrols “feature aggressive enforcement of state laws and city ordinances relating to quality of life issues.”
