LARGO, Fla. – Dale Allen Haley, 68, of Largo, Fla., passed away on Monday, March 24, at home with family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with bladder cancer.

Dale was born on Dec. 30, 1939, in Hillsboro, Ill., the only child of George Vincent Haley and Dorothy Elpha Redding-Haley. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1958.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army for six years. He was a radio controller in the Korean War, and stationed at Fort Dix, N.J., and a member of the color guard. While in the Army he started a career in electronics which lead to his TV repair and computer programming. He was married to Sally Ann Cordwell-Haley, of Norway, and had eight wonderful children.

He worked for Honeywell for 17 years as a computer programmer. He married Kathryn E. Pray of Auburn, and was self-employed at Unique Software, a computer business that consulted and developed programs for other businesses. He loved anything to do with computers and taught himself seven computer languages. He loved his children and adored his grandchildren, who he visited often. He lived in Maine and New Hampshire most of his life and moved to Florida after he retired in 2004.

He is survived by his cousin, Marlene and Kenny Christian; children, David L. Haley and his wife, Wanda (Angel) Haley, of Pinellas Park, Fla., Millie Z. Viers of Largo, Fla., Timothy J. Haley and fiancé, Rebecca Labbe, of Leeds, Susan M. Gordon and her husband, Peter A. Gordon, of Bethel, Richard G. Haley of Mechanic Falls, Dale V. Haley of Stoneham, Dorothy M. Roy and her husband, Gary J. Roy, of Agawam, Mass., Jean M. Robinson and her husband, Michael S. Robinson, of Otisfield; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents.

His family would like to sincerely thank the Bay Pines Medical Center, the Bay Pines Cancer Support Group and Hospice of Suncoast Bronze Team for their support, care and kindness. It was very much appreciated.
