South Paris – Malcolm (Mac) E. Delano, 79, of Oxford, died on Friday, April 11, passing away peacefully at Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris.
He was born in Oxford on Jan. 9, 1929, to Harry and Erna (Haskell) Delano. He worked hard most of his life often working two jobs. He had worked building log cabins by hand, hauling sand and gravel where trucks were filled by shovel, also worked as a carpenter, a part-time officer for the town of Oxford and for over 50 years at Robinson Manufacturing in Oxford in the finishing and maintenance departments. He was elected to the Oxford Board of Selectman for several terms in the 1960s. He was a 32nd degree mason belonging to Oxford Masonic Lodge AF and AM of Norway and Kora Temple of Auburn.
He enjoyed painting pictures and sharing, as well as giving his paintings to people for them to enjoy. He loved working around the house, in the garden and took great pride in his lawns. He loved playing golf, fishing, but one of his greatest enjoyments was watching sports of any kind and he was especially gratified that he got a chance to see the Red Sox win the World Series. The last few years he and his wife, with the help from daughter, Trudy, decorated the house and yard with many Christmas lights. He enjoyed the display.
