PORTLAND – The Sea Dogs scored two runs in the seventh inning to beat the Connecticut Defenders, 3-2, on Tuesday.

Mark Wagner led the Sea Dogs’ five-hit offense, going 2-3 with a solo homer down the left field line in the second inning and a run-scoring double. Jay Johnson had the game-winning RBI, snapping a 2-2 tie in the seventh inning with a sacriifce fly off Ryan Sadowski.

The Defenders threatened in the eighth when they put runners on first and second with no outs, but Hunter Jones picked off Antoan Richardson attempting to steal third to squelch the threat.

Kyle Jackson worked three innings in relief of Matt Goodson to pick up the win. Hunter Jones closed out the game with two scoreless innings for his second save.

Garrett Broshuis took the loss for Connecitcut.
