BREWER – Mary Theresa Reilly Kehoe, 79, of Brewer and Auburn, passed away peacefully Friday, April 4, at a Brewer health care facility.
She was born Sept. 21, 1928, in New York City, the daughter of Francis and Margaret (Flaherty) Reilly. She grew up in the Bronx and graduated from Cathedral High School. She attended Hunter College and married George C. Kehoe on Nov. 14, 1953.
For many years they lived in the New York City area, raising their family, which included a number of foster children. After moving to Auburn in 1975, she worked for many years in the Auburn-Lewiston area, at Lewiston District Court, Androscoggin Home Health Care and the United Methodist Church in Auburn. She particularly enjoyed working for Thomas Moser, Cabinetmaker.
Proud of her Irish heritage, she could easily slip into an Irish brogue and offer a Gaelic phrase or two. She loved Irish music and never forgot her wonderful trip to the Emerald Isle in 1996.
She was an avid reader. When she wasn’t reading, she was crocheting beautiful afghans. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Lewiston and devoted time to a number of community activities. After moving to Bangor in 2001, she attended St. John’s Church.
She is survived by four children, Mary M. Reynolds and husband, Larry, of Bangor, Paul J. Kehoe of New York, Robert G. Kehoe and wife, Laura, of Carrollton, Texas, and Anne M. Goyne; six grandchildren, Katie, Megan, Melissa, Jason, Nick and Jessica; and four great-grandchildren, Michael, Isaac, Clare and Ruthie.
She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Francis “Buddy” Reilly; and her husband, George, to whom she was married for 33 years.
